GIS / 911 Addressing Coordinator
911 ADDRESSING
GIS/911 Addressing Department Mission
The GIS department is responsible for maintaining the county's GIS database, GIS web site, public access computers in the tax office, emergency operations center server, and the 911 CAD mapping database used for responding to emergencies, as well as maintaining the 911 addressing database.
Other duties include overseeing the aquisition of new aerial photography, creating custom maps, maintaining and troubleshooting numerous departments using GIS software, and overseeing editing processes to the data being done by different departments throughout Alexander county.
These departments include the mapping department, economic development, soil and water, planning and inspections,the tax office, environmental health, and emergency services.
Other duties include the distribution of data, creation of new layers, custom map generation, analyzing data for other deparments and the general public, assigning street names and addresses, ordering street signs, maintaining an accurate street centerline file, and helping the general public with addressing issues.
The staff consists of a GIS/911 Addressing Coordinator, and a GIS/911 Addressing technician. These employees handle the day to day operations of the county's GIS and addressing needs.
