Harold Odom and his wife Linda reside in the Taylorsville community. They have 3 children, Mark and wife Babs, Harold Jr. and wife Lisa, and David and wife Tamera. They also have 6 grandchildren, Anna, Will, Charles, Daniel, Averi, and Zoe.

Harold is a 1955 graduate of Laurinburg High School. He earned is BA degree in History and Social Studies from Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1960 and his Masters in Industrial Education from N.C. A & T College in 1984. He taught at Stony Point Elementary School from 1960-1963 and at Alexander Central High School from 1975-2000. From 1969-1973, he served on the Mocksville Town Council. Harold is a member of First Baptist Church where he is a Sunday School Teacher and has also served as a deacon.

On November 7, 2006, he was elected to serve a 4-year term on the Alexander County Board of Commissioners.
